KEY CHANGES YOU SHOULD TAKE NOTE IN JAMB 2018
EXAM DURATION
In the last two years the duration/time of exam used to be 3 hours until recently. An hour has been curbed out making it the total number of 2 hours. We are appealing to you to be mindful of your time while answering your questions, if you don't remember an answer to a certain questions don't waste your time, move on to the next, its COMPUTER BASED TESTING, no invigilator will give you additional time, immediately and the stipulated time for your exam elapsed which is 2 hours, your EXAM automatically submit itself and you will have absolutely zero control to reverse such action, so watch you time closely.
REDUCTION IN EXAM QUESTIONS
Before, UTME Questions is usually 100 for English Language and 50 questions for other 3 subjects for every candidates but now it has been reduced, CANDIDATES will now take 60 questions for English Language and 40 questions each for other 3 selected subjects depending on your individuals subject combination. Less Question, less time to waste.
UPLOADING OF EXAM QUESTIONS
unlike before where all exam questions have been programmed few days before the exam on all systems at the Cbt centre, exam questions are uploaded 10 minutes before the commencement of the exam, as such, this should serve as a severe warning to the lazy students who have one way or the other solely relied on "expo", exam malpractices and planning to cheat the system, if exam are uploaded five minutes before the commencement, that makes it completely in possible to be leak to general public not even the Cbt owner, cheating to score high in this UTME shall be difficult, if not completely impossible, so if you've set all your effort aside and waiting for manner to fall for from heaven, you're on your own, the people you have subscribed to; will eventually send you things, but they definitely won't be the correct answers to questions provided for you to answer on you screen, the little sun left up can still dry a wet cloth, you could study and still pass.
USE OF 8KEYS TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ON KEYBOARD
Years back there were series of reports that some students often find it difficult to use the mouse provided to navigate as sometimes, the mouse provided often hang or not work at all, and such is specifically bad for score/results of most students who have little or no knowledge of computer before. After series of lamentation JAMB came up with solution of 8KEYS system, which means you can use 8 letters to answer your question, here are the functions
A, B, C, D, letters are used as example:
If your answer is A then you click on A on your keyboard, if it's B you click on B and so on...
The other letters are
P,N,S,R making total number of 8 letters [ A,B,C,D,P,N,S,R]
P for previous question [ if you wish to go back to previous question on your screen tap on letter P]
N for next question [ if you're done answering a question and you wish to proceed to the next one tap on letter N]
S for submit/submission of exam [ if you're done with your question and you wish to submit, simply tap on letter S]
R for reverse [ if you have submitted but wish to review your answers again as long as you're within your time tap letter R]
Note that letter R will only work for you If you're still within your time frame.
Do not click on submit when you're not done with your questions, and also ensure you answer all questions whether you're sure of the answers or you're not, just at least tick on something.
